Services
The Michigan Family Institute, Inc. consists of:
- The Clinic. Offering Counseling for Adults Children and Relationships.
- Our treatment averages 6-10 sessions and improvements are as long lasting as those obtained in other treatment modalities. We work closely with referring professionals so that everyone is working towards the same goal. This collaborative work helps to resolve even complex problems more quickly.
- The Institute. Training Programs for Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- The institute staff includes faculty committed to providing training to professionals in state-of-the-art family treatment techniques. Faculty have trained and are providing training to mental health center staffs, family service agencies, court personnel, hospital psychiatric staffs and private out-patient clinics. Each year the Institute trains various types of professionals in advanced approaches to family treatment. This includes approved supervision for licensing of Marriage and Family Therapists. Our staff members present workshops and trainings to over a thousand professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada each year.

Special Services Offered
- ADHD Evaluation
- We provide complete testing including IQ, achievement, psycho-social assessment and personality testing. Feedback to parents is an integral part of the process.
- Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program
- This is a 6 week program for adolescents who are out of control and need more than a weekly session to get things back on course. Weekly family sessions and groups for parents and adolescent are provided.
- Post Divorce Services
- We provide intervention for divorced/divorcing families who are experiencing parenting conflicts. The goal is to resolve any parenting issues to that the child is not caught in the middle and is able to maintain a strong relationship with both parents.
- School Based Violence Prevention Program
- This program is designed to teach administration, faculty, parents and community members how to organize their school and put into place prevention services to disrupt violence before it has a chance to occur.
The Training Institute
Speaking Engagements
Institute staff have spoken to many school, church and community groups on topics related to the family and struggles related to child rearing, behavior management in the school setting, and organizational needs. We would be happy to provide a talk on a topic specific to your needs.
Consultation and Training Programs
- One and Two-Day Workshops
- Various practical skill-building workshops are available on a variety of subjects such as Violent and Aggressive Adolescents, Violent and Resistant Couples, Brief Therapy, and Transforming Resistance.
- Intensive Live-Supervision Trainings
- One-day, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions combining live supervision of actual cases utilizing the one-way mirror with didactic material, training tapes, and case consults.
- Agency Consultation and In-Service
- Seminars, case consultation, and management consulting. Programs can be single presentations, or at a frequency set by the agency. Programs focus on improving effectiveness of short-term treatment and helping management organize more efficient clinical and management teams.
- Individual Case Consultation
- Individually tailored for helping professionals. Conducted in person, by telephone, or on-line.
- Supervision of Supervision
- Training in Supervision skills which can include live supervision of supervisory sessions. As an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor, Mr. Price can provide supervision for those seeking to become Approved Supervisors or Clinical Members of AAMFT.
